The last big weekend of summer is fast approaching, and you know what that means. Grab your friends, the kids, blanket, and the cooler, and join us for a true summer tradition: the Labor Day Weekend Concert at The AMP! Headlining this year is Railroad Earth, who bill themselves as an acoustic rock band. With five critically acclaimed studio albums and one hugely popular live one, Elko, these talented musicians have incredibly loyal fans following them all over the country.
Fennell wins Alex City Jazz Fest Art Contest
The Alex City Jazz Fest committee recently named the winner of its 2015 commemorative poster and T-shirt art contest. The competition, which ended March 6, encouraged area artists to submit artwork to honor the 25th anniversary of the community event.
The AMP is an open-air site, located on the top of one of the rolling hills, high above the shores of Lake Martin. The many acres of open fields surrounding the amphitheater have a rolling topography, including several small streams, and are bordered by the lake and dense woods. The entire area provides a panoramic view of the Big Kowaliga Basin.
As people sit on blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy events, they look down on a 60'x40' state-of-the-art stage, with a panoramic view of Lake Martin as a backdrop. In addition, we have improved road access and parking areas, which are near and offer easy access, day or night. The parking areas are dirt/gravel and grass. There are two restrooms with handicap access. Security is provided to promote and maintain a wholesome family atmosphere.
